Cameron Avery is a retired lawyer who practiced at the global law firm, K&L Gates, where he represented and advised corporations, investment companies and their board members. He had extensive experience in public and private securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and also served as principal legal counsel to dozens of investment companies, a pharmaceutical company and a telecommunications company.

Mr. Avery was appointed to the Windy City Habitat for Humanity Board in 2011, and he serves on the Resource Development Committee. As a strong believer in the Habitat for Humanity mission, Mr. Avery has financially supported Habitat for many years and for the past three years has participated in the Carter Build Week in Thailand, Haiti, and Washington D.C.

Mr. Avery is also a board member of Chicago Sunday Evening Club (producer of the weekly "30 Good Minutes" on WTTW) and Environmental Law and Policy Center and is a life trustee of Ravinia Festival Association, Music and Dance (Harris) Theater Chicago and North Shore Country Day School. He founded legal clinics in Englewood and Woodlawn, served as chairman of the board of Harris Bank Winnetka and is past president of the Legal Club of Chicago, the Chicago Commonwealth and the Harvard Law Society of Illinois.

Mr. Avery and his wife, Lynn Donaldson, live in Winnetka. He is a graduate of the School of Engineering at Princeton University and of Harvard Law School.
