David Betlejewski
Board Member
Windy City Habitat for Humanity

David Betlejewski is President and CEO of North of Bethlehem, Inc., where he works as a consultant on community development, municipal regulations and incentives, in hopes of finding solutions to the foreclosure epidemic in the Midwest. Mr. Betlejewski believes that every person in the world deserves a simple, decent place to live as his own experience has shown that where you live has a profound impact on who you are.

Growing up in the poorest county in Michigan, Mr. Betlejewski became involved in Habitat for Humanity at a very young age while working with St. Anne's Parish in rural Lake County. During this experience, he saw the tremendous impact that homeownership had on the lives of the people in his community as well as the investment made in families through Habitat. The experience he gained volunteering his time with Habitat led to his first professional job as an intern with the Midwest Regional Center of Habitat for Humanity in Chicago.

Mr. Betlejewski's work as an intern brought him to Chicago where he has spent the past 16 years working in the field of community development, first as an Associate Director for Greater Southwest Development Corporation on the southwest side of Chicago and later as the Executive Director of Eighteenth Street Development Corporation, located near downtown Chicago.

In his spare time, Mr. Betlejewski enjoys working as a volunteer for Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago and his local parish, St. Richards.

Mr. Betlejewski was named to the Windy City Habitat for Humanity Board in 2004. An alumnus of Michigan State University, Mr. Betlejewski recently earned a Masters in Business Administration from North Park University.
